Both paintings have been sold to a private art collector. They will be hung in a collection by the battery in Charleston, SC.

My idea for these paintings were to include local figures separated by many years but whose characteristics I find admirable.

I first sketched their portraits from original paintings. From there, I went on to include realistic and abstract adaptations of the original to create a different atmosphere surrounding these figures. To then draw attention away from the figure, an aluminum PBR beer can was added to it. It intentionally feels a little off. How could there be a beer can in the hand of a man who lived in the 18th century?
